山、道 and 間. Three very common words, which can be used in a variety of ways.

山 can signify -a large number

-the high or most important point of something (show, conference, book, etc.)

道, naturally, can be used in the same fashion.
It can signify -A process or method towards a goal

-a field or area of expertise

間 can signify -distance in terms of time, space, relationships and groups

Examples:

１．この小説の山は、主人公が奥さんの浮気ことを発見する。
The high point in the novel was when the main character discovered his wife cheating.

２．私の合格への道は全然楽なものじゃない
My path to passing isn't an easy thing at all.

３．「Playboy」という雑誌はオヤジの間であまり人気がないよね。

The magazine "Playboy" isn't popular among oyajis.
