I'd like to make a list of some of these 気 phrases that you all have come across. This week, I'll be starting my vacation, so updates will be sporadic from Wednesday, but let's keep this list going in the meantime.
Looking at various examples, these seem to basically convey the same nuance. However, I have always associated 気になる as being something that is a trifling, relatively unimportant thing --like a bug bite. Whereas 気にする has always seemed more general and encompassing when it comes to things that bother you, i.e. the ubiquitous 「気にするなよ。」 「Don't worry about it!」 Please share your experiences with these three phrases and add to the list of 気 expressions below.
気をつかう： Attentive of X; care about X
気にとめない： Ablivious of X
気にやむ： Anxious; lose sleep over X
